Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas MP John-Paul Danko recently visited the Ancaster manufacturing facility operated by INTE Modular to tour its advanced factory for modular home construction.

“Canada needs to build more affordable homes and build faster,” said Danko. “Facilities like INTE Modular in Ancaster will help deliver more affordable high-quality homes while supporting Canadian workers and using Canadian steel and lumber.” John-Paul Danko, P. INTE Modular operates a 100,000 square foot manufacturing plant where homes are built indoors using modern modular construction methods. Instead of building homes entirely on-site, the company constructs fully finished modules in the factory and then transports them to the building site for installation. This factory-based process builds homes faster, improves quality control, and reduces construction timelines.

The Ancaster facility also supports local manufacturing and skilled trades jobs. INTE produces steel components in-house and uses Canadian steel as part of its modular construction process. The factory relies on local skilled workers to design, fabricate, and assemble housing modules using advanced digital design and precision manufacturing technology.

Building homes in a factory environment improves consistency and quality while reducing material waste. Modules leave the factory with completed interiors, including electrical, plumbing, heating, and finishing work, allowing buildings to be assembled on site in a fraction of the time required for traditional construction.

The Government of Canada’s Build Canada Homes program will expand opportunities for modern modular home construction across Canada by supporting large-scale housing production and prioritizing modern construction methods such as factory-built housing.

Factory-built housing will help deliver more affordable homes for Canadians. Young families entering the housing market will benefit from lower construction costs and faster delivery. Seniors who want to downsize will have access to high-quality, energy-efficient homes built with modern manufacturing standards.
