Meet John-Paul Danko

John-Paul Danko, P. Eng. is the Member of Parliament for the riding of Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas. He was elected in the 2025 federal election as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada, following several years of service in municipal government. He represents more than 120,000 residents across Hamilton’s west end and the communities of Ancaster and Dundas.

 

In Parliament, Danko serves on the House of Commons Standing Committee on Natural Resources and participates in numerous parliamentary associations, contributing to work on energy, infrastructure, and economic development issues that affect communities across Canada.

Before being elected to Parliament, Danko served as the Hamilton City Councillor for Ward 8 from 2018 to 2025, representing the West/Central Mountain. During his time on city council, he focused on city planning, housing, infrastructure renewal, and community development, including serving as Chair of Hamilton’s Planning Committee and Chair of Public Works.

Danko is a professional engineer (P.Eng.) and a graduate of McMaster University, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. Prior to entering public office, he spent more than two decades in the private sector designing, building, and managing major public infrastructure projects across Canada.

In addition to his engineering career, Danko is also a photographer whose work has been published internationally.

As Member of Parliament, Danko focuses on strengthening infrastructure, supporting housing construction, and ensuring Hamilton continues to grow as a center for innovation, education, and advanced manufacturing. The riding he represents is home to major institutions including McMaster University, Redeemer University, and Mohawk College, as well as a vibrant life-sciences sector that is one of the region’s largest employers.

John-Paul lives in Hamilton with his wife, Dawn Danko, and their family.
